I have been a member in good standing of SAMEA since 2015. I lobbied students and professionals to join the organization. I strived to promote Samir amongst professionals in my day to day interactions and successfully and enrolled more than ten members during that time.

Biggest challenge facing monetary and evaluation in South Africa-

The monitoring and evolution function is not clearly understood by organizations and is thus viewed as just a compliance function. As a result, monitoring and evolution capacity in many organizations is low thus relegating the work of monitoring evaluation as just another compliance function to satisfy donors and government demands. Samea should achieve the following in the next three years: The organization should strive to ensure that the monitoring and evaluation profession or discipline is professionalized and should work towards turning SAMEA into a fully-fledged professional body representing monitoring and evolution professionals in the country. SAMEA should also endeavor to increase its membership from all quarters including both academia and practitioners. SAMEA should also continue to bring government and development institutions more on board and work together with them in growing and institutionalizing monitoring and evaluation.

What major contribution do I bring to SAMEA? I bring modern 13 years of experience as a monitoring evaluation practitioner in the development and public sectors. I also bring along solid ethical leadership principles. I aim to contribute towards the achieving of the mission and the vision of the organization during my tenure.

As a board member in other organizations, I have served in various capacities including that as a Treasurer For both non profit and for profit organizations. I also have a passion and deep interest in fulfilling the mission of SAMEA. I want to play a part in supporting guiding and developing monitoring and evaluation as an important discipline and instrument for empowerment and accountability in South Africa. Coupled with the above, I have the ability to see the big picture and courage to set the direction to achieve the organization’s mission.
