Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Intern

Monitoring and Evaluation form a vital part of the organisations operations and allow the organisation to measure the impact of their interventions, operations, programmes and grants, ensuring accountability to donors and stakeholders.


The key duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support the Social Impact office in developing, implementing, and managing robust monitoring and evaluation models for our organisations.
  • Assist the Social Impact office with designing and implementing clear monitoring and evaluation strategies, policies, procedures and templates for the organisation.
  • Assist the Monitoring and Evaluation officer in evidence and data gathering by designing and initiating baseline surveys to establish the impact of partners, clients and interventions for the organisation.
  • Support the Monitoring and Evaluation officer in conducting regular, systematic, evidence-based reviews and site visits of partners, projects and interventions.
  • Support the Social Impact office with compilation and population of data from reports and other sources with supporting evidence on partners, projects and interventions for the organisation.
  • Support the Monitoring and Evaluation officer in providing content and research for developing funding proposals, including evidence of the impact of projects, stories, pictures, and future intervention implementation for the organisation.
  • Support the Social Impact office’s online and in-person training, workshops, forums,and other engagement initiatives’ logistics.


Person specification:

  • Excellent written and spoken English skills are required. Afrikaans and isiXhosa are advantageous.
  • Excellent presentation and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation systems at a programme level and knowledge of Impact Measurement Management tools is an added advantage.
  • Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce) is advantageous.
  • Graduate or Post Graduate degrees in M&E or development.
  • Experience within the NGO sector is an added advantage.
  • Agreement with the organisation’s core values.


Employment conditions:

  • Successful applicants will be stationed at the VUKA Social Impact Co-Working Space Office in Paarl, Western Cape.
  • Applicant must be a South African citizen or have a valid South African work permit.
  • Own vehicle and a valid South African driver’s licence are advantageous.
  • Preference will be given to Employment Equity candidates.
